I found the world of design in high school when I took Design Technology as part of the international baccalaureate program while studying in the Netherlands. While the subject was more industrial design focused, the concept of user centric design stood out to me immediately.
The notion that you could solve problems that real humans have, and make their lives easier AND get paid for it sounded unreal. From that moment on I decided that this would be the path that I took, no matter how difficult it might be. My journey took me to the University of California, San Diego where I got to explore design through the lens of Cognitive Science, and to build my craft through many projects, both in school and on my own.
I've been really lucky to get some transformative experiences that have been really crucial in helping me grow as a designer. I truly believe that the internships that I've been able to accomplish had more impact on my career than any class I took x10.
These decisions lead me to where I am now; a product designer working at HashiCorp. Right now, I am dedicated to learning everyday and continuing to grow my craft, day by day.
Some of the songs that inspire my day to day life:
One thing that really drew me into design is that the possibilities are never ending. You never know what is next in the field, and that possibility is what makes it so exciting. Here are some of the things that I want to try to tap into some more going forward.
